The metal-work and sculpture of Paul Margetts

Feature Sculpture for new National Distribution Centre for BSL Ltd, Wolverhampton

Stainless steel sculpture, 8 metres high, designed by Paul Margetts and fabricated and installed by Alan Dawson Associates.

The sculpture is intended to complement BSL’s new National Distribution Centre - the curving lines, gently contrasting with the geometry of the architecture. The chosen material, stainless steel implies modernity and progress and is effectively set off by the blue cladding of the offices.

The design of the sculpture promotes a sense of togetherness and harmony while the energy in the vertical tendrils suggest optimism and ambition.

The scale of the sculpture can be appreciated by the size of the men installing the piece in the right hand photo above.

The usual design process was followed in which drawings and the maquette shown here on the right were offered to the client. This scale model was later used in the workshop during the construction of the full size piece.
