Millennium Arches - Galley Common School, Warwickshire, by Paul Margetts

A community art project initiated by Warwickshire County Council and funded by the Millennium Commission.

The project aimed to create a piece of public art which emphasised the history of the village, be a celebration of the Millennium, and provide a sense of identity for old and new inhabitants of the area. Two archways were made over the pedestrian gates into Galley Common School.

The deatails on the arches descibe many features relating to the past and present life of the village.

Before the archways were installed

Paul Margetts worked with the school children in developing ideas for the design and demonstrated some of the techniques that would be used in the commission.
